Team will be taking their modified GMC Syclone, aka “Syborg”(not to be confused with the GMC Sonoma GT named the Syborg TT) to the inaugural Speed By Spectre 341 Challenge, June 25-26 and mix it up with some of the fastest “street legal” cars on one of the most infamous and challenging mountain roads around. This is an invitation-only timed hill climb road race competition where highly prepared “street legal” cars will race up Nevada Highway 341 to see who will claim the bragging rights as “King of the Hill”.

The Speed by Spectre 341 Challenge is a rare opportunity to drive flat-out, utilizing both sides of the road without the worry of law enforcement or oncoming traffic and a shot at becoming a member of the coveted 3:41 Club, an elite club of racers who managed to finish the race in 3 minutes and 41 seconds or less.

Road racing is nothing new to Highway 341. Sponsored by the Ferrari Owners Club, the Virginia City Hill Climb had been contested there as far back as 1972 and up until 2002 when a double fatally resulted in the discontinuation of the timed road race competition. Another Ferrari club, The Ferrari Club of America (FCA) continued to run an annual event in September, but eliminated official timing and scoring in an effort to discourage racing in the interest of participant safety.

The “Syborg” is now in the final preparation phase of construction and will be ready for some track testing within the next month. Once the finishing touches and a fresh coat of Syclone Black paint have been applied, we’ll post a feature of the truck including photos and specifications.
