The Spectre 341 Challenge is in the books and we came away with some mixed feelings after what was an awesome event up until the last 10 minutes of competition when a fellow competitor lost his life after plunging over a cliff.
Team HighPerformanceTrucks.com will be taking their modified GMC Syclone, aka “Syborg”(not to be confused with the GMC Sonoma GT named the Syborg TT) to the inaugural Speed By Spectre 341 Challenge, June 25-26 and mix it up with some of the fastest “street legal” cars on one of the most infamous and challenging mountain roads around. This is an invitation-only timed hill climb road race competition where highly prepared “street legal” cars will race up Nevada Highway 341 to see who will claim the bragging rights as “King of the Hill”.
Reigning champion Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima, and his Suzuki SX4 special won the 87th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in a blistering fast time of 10 minutes, 15 seconds, but a loose track would not allow for a new record, despite Tajima’s SX4 beating his closest rival by over 36 seconds!
Here is a BMW E30 3 Series that has been converted into a pickup truck and competes at drifting events in Hungary. Running a 4.0 BMW V8 with a huge centrifugal supercharger, the Bimmer truck has no problem lighting up the rear tires!
